Designer (Tabletop Games)

Snowbright Studio is seeking a work-for-hire designer to further develop and refine an upcoming board game. This is a project-based contract position that ends when the project is completed.

Scope of Role
This is a fixed price work-for-hire project-based role. The role will end when the project is completed. We expect completion of the project to take between 1 and 4 months.

Qualifications

  • A deep understanding of light strategy board game mechanics, including roll and write mechanics

  • Prior experience designing games with a focus on light family-friendly strategy games

  • An interest in designing pro-social/empathy-based games

  • Kindness, empathy, and a desire to make the world a better place through play and games

  • A desire to collaborate with a primarily LGBTQ+, disability-friendly, and neurodiverse team

Core Responsibilities
The Designer will take a board game’s mechanics from alpha version to production ready. This will include testing rules, developing new mechanics as needed, and integrating themes of emotional resilience into the game. Significant artwork and narrative components are already completed. The Designer will collaborate with Snowbright staff and a subject matter expert on counseling/emotional resilience in children.

Compensation
This role will be paid on a work-for-hire milestone basis with partial payment on signing and additional payment(s) upon hitting project milestones. Designer credits will be included in the rulebook and on the front of the box of the finished board game.
